Importance of Nursery Rhymes for Babies

Let’s speak today about the importance of nursery rhymes for babies. Your speech, full of literary and artistic forms of expression, will necessarily lead not only to the development of a child's language and improve its understanding, but will also contribute to the enrichment of his aesthetic and emotional outlook.

Choosing nursery rhymes

While choosing chants and rhymes for your baby you should keep in mind that it should be a harmonious rhyme that will cause a rich range of aesthetic experience in you. Do not worry if you see that the baby does not understand you. Remember that he sees, hears, feels and absorbs everything like a sponge. He sees your example of attitude to poetry.

How to read nursery rhymes?

You must be well prepared to read rhymes. As I have said, you baby does not understand the whole meaning, but your tone will help him perceive the emotional content and will let him feel the special feelings that are not born in everyday life.

So, you should intone well and pronounce clearly all the chants and rhymes. To do this, try to see right into your baby’s eye with a gentle smile, as if there is a name in the text, replace it with the name of your little one.

Aesthetics and emotional communication in daily life

Besides reading rhymes, your speech, rich in emotional and aesthetic experiences, will introduce your baby to the world of poetry.

Walking outdoors with your 1 year old child will give you an excellent opportunity to tell him about everything you see in a figurative language, creating associations in your baby that he will easily understand.

At a certain situation outdoors or at home, you can quote to your baby an appropriate verse from a familiar or a new rhyme. In other cases you can tell him a tale or create an interesting story.

From the very first days of baby’s life you and other adults in the family should use most affectionate, gentle and poetic words when communicating with the baby.

Rhymes for everyday activities

Choose and learn the most suitable rhymes and chants for you and your baby and use them at any particular time.

• When going to sleep.

Your baby will feel much kindness and gentleness every time you sing lullabies and rock him.

• At every waking moment.

Create your baby’s good mood once he has woken up by expressing your parental love with rhymes.

• While you are washing or bathing the baby.

• While feeding him.

• While dressing (especially when the baby is capricious).

• While communicating.

Every time your baby agooes or talks to you in other way, support him with a gentle nursery rhyme.

• When your baby cries and you sooth him.

• When your baby makes his first steps.

• At any time you caress him.

And what rhymes or chants does your little one love the most? How often do you read and sing them? Share your experience below!
