7 Basic Rules of Netiquette: Teaching Kids Online Manners and Safety

When leaving a child alone with the computer, you must be sure that your child clearly knows the basic rules of the netiquette. These will help him to successfully avoid many dangerous things, and embarrassing situations online.

1. Politeness is no less important online than in a real life.
2. Teach you child to follow the rules of the groups he joins.
3. Information about the family, the place you live, any contact, as well as anything related to your financial situation are private and should never be shared.
4. Anyone on the Internet can easily impersonate another person. And it’s a great danger. Your kid in no case should meet with strangers, even if they've been talking for a long time.
5. Your child must keep his password in secret.
6. He must avoid chat rooms that discuss sex or religious beliefs.
7. Your kid must always inform you when he faces online something that makes them feel uncomfortable.

Explain to your child that the Internet is a necessary tool in the modern world, and if something is not clear for him, you will always be happy to help.

These simple measures, as well as confidential talk with your child about what rules he should follow when using the Internet, will let you feel relaxed, and your kids be in safety when taking an informative journey through the World Wide Web.
