Baby Sleep: Peculiarities and Tip

Baby sleep is one of the most popular topics all moms are interested in. And no wonder, all moms want their kids to grow healthy and happy, and a sound sleep is a guarantee of their child's wellness.

A newborn spends almost all his time sleeping and wakes up just to eat, so his sleep lasts about 20 hours a day. As a baby grows, his sleep time gradually shortens. Usually the first periods of wakefulness are in the early evening. Then the baby will wake up in a different time of the day. Eventually individual schedule of the day is developed for each child, and he consistently follows it waking up at the same time.

By the end of the first year of life a baby naps twice a day and by the year and a half of age he naps only once. Allow your child to decide when and how much time he will sleep.

Parents often complain that the child has difficulties falling asleep or sleeps a little. Of course, they can not help worrying for they know how important sleep is for the baby. No wonder there’s a saying that goes that children grow up while sleeping. In fact, growth hormone is produced in the pituitary at this time.

Remember that condition of the child's nervous system influences his ability to fall asleep. Not only alternation of wakefulness and sleep is important, but a situation that helps the baby fall asleep and wake up as well. Sometimes the child is not able to fall sleep because he missed "his" time. Now he's tired too much and his schedule is broken.

In order to teach your baby to fall asleep, you should organize his transition to sleep:

• put the baby to sleep when he is sleepy and rubs her eyes;
• do not play games before bedtime;
• avoid anything that irritate the child and male her cry;
• the room where the baby sleeps should be warm but not hot, the optimum temperature should be 18-20°C;
• develop a simple ritual you can always follow when preparing you baby for sleep.
